Francia White
1909 - 1984

Francia White was born in 1909, and died on October 22, 1984, in Van Nuys, CA.

White is credited with helping to launch the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera, and headlined as its first leading lady in 1938.

She had a career on radio during 1935-41, also appearing in light operas and concerts in both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Occasionally accompanying the Los Angeles Philharmonic, she appeared in such operas as New Moon, Naughty Marietta, and The Firefly.

She was stricken with a severe case of rhumatoid arthritis, which forced to her to retire, and eventually caused her death.
